Here is a link to a like new overhead console that will fit many of the Chevy/GMC trucks. I started the listing at $1. Heres your chance to get it cheap. You can remove the AC controls if you don't need them and install the pocket (purchased from GM) or modify a plate for your switches, radios etc....

How did you remove the console? I have the same one in charcoal gray. I only see one screw?

The back of the console should just pop out. It snaps up into a brace on the roof under the headliner. I installed one a few months ago in my truck. Hope this helps.
