What Is The Torque Management All About ?

I have an 07 NBS 4.8, and like everyone else, i notice the delay on launch with the truck. I do my best and try to read myself about it, but can you guys explain to me what all the TM does ? I heard that it cuts full power until after 2,000-2200 RPM, then I heard about a 4 or 5 second delay...whats going on ? Do most of the handhelds take this off ?

To save wear and tear on the drivetrain they limit engine power on take off as you stated. I know of no handheld that removes the torque management. A custom tune will though and they are alot cheaper. I ordered one myself today from Jesse Bubb at wait4me performance, He is real easy to call, I have called him twice this week and he picks right up. Other tuners (I personally have used PCM4Less and Zippy Performance) do not answer the phone as readily.

I already talked to him, they dont have anything available yet for the 07, you would have to send him your PCM, which I can't do, but the handheld he uses, he sells, thats one of the ones im interested in

According to Diablosport the predator will reduce the TM some, I believe you can go in and reduce it further if you choose. Not positive on this, just what I have read on their site.

i will agree on the customer service of w4m. i ordered the "economy" tune for my truck from Jesse and it has changed my truck completely, meshing all my mods together with what i asked for in the pcm, i am so impressed with what it did. very highly recommended.

you dont HAVE to send in your pcm, you can purchase an already tuned one. that is what i did, it is more expensive, but now i still have my stock one in case i need it.

Right now, yes you HAVE to send him your PCM for a NBS 07. That was his point. Jesse does not have any cores for the NBS right now, they are hard to get still. Charlie Wheatley told me the same thing.

I don't know as to the 07s, but on my 05 my Diablo Sport will take out ALL torque management. It has the option to turn it on or off. I have been running with it most of the year. It has no hesitation and shifts very positive. I have a corvette and 4th hold servo installed which should help the trans last a little longer. But I don't get into it that much.

i just feel like im giving it more gas than i have to at launch, just to keep up, but once you get full power it takes off

what gears? Also Diablo may say that they remove TM but ive scanned several vehicles with Diablo tunes and the pcm still pulls timing..

I wouldn't completely remove all the TM without a shift kit. The computer pulls engine timing pretty badly on take off and a few hundred RPM before a shift occurs, thats TM. If I were to do it all again, I'd get a shift kit first before anything else, just for perfect and awesome shifts, tranny longevity, and because it's not half assing around the PCM for better shifts. Then after the shift kit get a dyno tune to make good power and completely remove all TM...and it would be completely safe :) Not to mention with a shift kit the 4L60 can handle 450 ft lbs compared to the factory rated 370.

Hell. It was pretty lame, and everything we did over there in California we could have done right here in Ohio. Only s**tty part was there was a pool there on base, and we had the last 2 days off, so I decided to go. Well I fell asleep for a few hours and yeah. That was last Monday and the burn is finally going away and my skin's peeling like a mofo.

Mike,

This is the first I've heard of Jesse selling a hand held programmer! Can you share some more information? Des it hold more than one tune like the others? I'd really like to have a hand held as opposed to swapping the PCM, and it would be great to actually have custom tunes available to load as needed!

TQ manamgnet pulls timing during the shifts. On a stock tune it pulls ALOT.LOL

Personally I do not remove it all unless asked for,if wanted I will.

On the diablo,if you turn the tq managment off, there is still some, not as much but it is not 100% gone at all

I heard there are two types of tq. management being used by the PCM. One is engine tq mgt., and the other is transmission tq. mgt. What is the difference in what they do to the stock tune?
