2004 5.3l Fitting Into 2002 Suburban?

Hi there,

I have an 02 Sub LT autoride. Recently, the engine went and I have it at a shop for replacement. They got a very low mile 04 5.3l to replace it, but the tech said today it has an EGR, whereas mine doesn't. He also pointed out some tubes running underneath the intake that aren't on the 02 motor. I tried calling a few dealers, the best answer I could get was that it would work if he swapped intakes, but they didn't know about those tubes.

Any ideas would be appreciated. This 04 motor only has 34k (and doesn't the 04 motor have 10 more HP than my 02 5.3l?)

Thanks

OK, so it makes sense that one would have an EGR and the other not? Should he take the single tube that runs from the front of one head to the other (under the intake) on the old engine and put it on the replacement engine? The new engine has these tubes also, just that they're at the front and back. On the old engine, the ports for these back tubes have threaded caps blocking them.

One thing he pointed out, after still not getting any real info in the manuals, dealers etc. This is an American truck, and being in Canada, could the emmission set up be different, regardless of year?

Thanks again
