I've seen this question asked quite a few times over the years here, and I've never seen a good answer.

I wish somebody had a definitive procedure for this. :chevrolet:

I just lined them up using tape on the garage wall after I made sure the truck was on level ground.

i'm not sure where to line them up tho ... how far away should the truck be and how high on the wall should the lights be at that distance ... ya know what i mean

Acctually there is a machine that the shops use to align them, if you have the money to spend on the labor...OR.... You can do what I have done when I replaced mine. You will need a long strip of paper, tape and a marker. At night, I taped the paper to the side of the house and pulled my truck(with the old headlights) about 10- 15 feet away facing the paper. Turn on the low beams and outlign the shape of the brightest contraction of the lights. You can probably get by just place some tape in the most center spot. Next do the same with the high beams. Make sure you mark the difference between the two. Next with out moving the truck, replace the headlights. Then aim the new lights to the mark you made before. Do a test drive to make sure there aimed where you want them and can see the road. You can make you adjustments if needed.

Hope this helps.

i didnt think you could align the high beams???? dont they just follow the alignment of the low beams?

They do, but I had bought a pair of Sleeze bay headlights and there were not of the highest quality. I had to shim up one corner on a side of both headlights to get my high beams to line back up.

Just a precautionary measure, mark the high beams too. I hate having to do stuff twice, especially in the dark. :chevrolet:
