'01 Takes 3-4 Times To Start

My '01 Sierra takes way too long to start, a couple years ago it would pop on the first try (Cranking for about 2 seconds each try, holding it longer doesn't help). I only use 93, and recently changed the fuel filter, so I don't think it's fuel. Last weekend I changed the plugs and wires, which did nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Battery is about a year old. Also, I did gap the iridium plugs to the specs of the Haynes manual... maybe I shouldn't?

That wouldn't matter. Hook a scan tool up and check your fuel pressure when u get it started. Check your batter charge level as well. Could be any number of things you might just need a full tune up with wires, cap rotor etc.

Fuel pressure. Check it with key on, cold start.

 

Should be 60 psi.

 

Anything below...you are gonna need a fuel pump.

 

Stop throwing parts at a problem. Find the problem, diagnose the problem, fix the problem
