Maf Recommendations

Looking for suggestions on a MAF unit. What do you all recommend? - and with my current mods, would I benifit from one? Thanks!

Just remove the screens or leave it alone. Not a fan of the Granatelli sensors for $300. Some say don't remove the screens, but I have not had any problems.

do you really notice a difference from removing the screen? what's it there for?

I can't say you notice a difference, but if you look at it, it seems pretty restrictive. Removing it has to let me air in. 3rd gen. Camaros and Firebirds performance books etc recommend removing the screen and tests show more cfm. Some say its there to smooth the air over the wire, and others say its there to prevent any debris from entering the intake. It beats paying $300 for an aftermarket one. I pull the screen and bought a stock used one for $20 just in case. I'm not worried about debris since that is what the air filter is for. No problems or bad codes so far.

Leave the MAF alone. Dont dick with it at all. Unless you are phisically going to tune for that screen being gone. Do not take it out. That whole deal is just a placebo. People do a mod and think it actually made a difference. It doesnt do s**t but make you run lean. Proven.

 

That little screen wont become a restriction untill you start making power which youll probably never see.
