Actually I have 2 1994 Polaris XLT SKS. I am in the process of longtracking them out to 136" X 1.75". And some go fast mods. I want to get a 800 SummitX but it was a new model last year so I am giving them a couple years to work the bugs out. Besides that these are paid for and I had zero problems with them this year (except for that tree) I can't climb the highest but this was only my first year with my own sled so I am not too worried. Besides parts are cheaper for this one. Also I am hoping that they bring the yellow back for the X's next year.  (Are you listening ski doo!!)

#### YEAH!!!

I'm a diehard sled head too (hence the goofy username) and we ride the exact same sled, '94 XLT.  I put a set of SLP pipes on mine and it'll run with any 700 out there and a few 800's too.  Give me that 2 stroke smoke!!

Most of last season I rode a '01 700RMK with the 144 inch track, WOW, what a screamer.  I do guided sled tours and that's what the boss gave me to ride, no complaints here.  Next season I'll probably ride a '98 700XC, that my Dad had when he lived here but hasn't been able to sell since he moved.  I've long tracked it with the 136 and 2 inch paddles and put on a Fox Shock to smooth it on the trail.

I know lots of people are gung ho on the new 800's, but if you can't get there on a 600 or 700, you need more skill and experience than power.  Personally when I trade up soon, I'll still ride a 600.  I may not be first to the top, but I'll get there and when the day is done I won't be exhausted from wrestling those big 7 or 8's all day.

Congrats on a great choice for a first sled, and yes I had some "custom" bumper work done on mine too thanks to a pine tree, and "custom" trailing arm work thanks to a rock and once even "custom" cone work when I sailed my trailer and stuffed it under the back bumper of a Suburban!  Getting stuck, hitting trees, smacking those ? rocks, postholing out 3 miles alone...WHATEVER!!!  The only thing worse is not riding at all ;) Check out those SLP pipes for your XLT, use toothpaste on the inside of your shield to cut down the fog, lift the rear end when replacing the belt and carry a tow strap, for those Arctic Cats, on you at all times.  Oh man I gotta go, my throttle thumb is getting hard!!

Ya I am definetly looking into the SLP Pipes. It seems that for the 580 they only have glasspacks though, I can't get into West Yellowstone with those. Sound restrictions and all. At least till next year when it is closed to us all.  (inserti curse words here) Besides I actually like having a quiet sled. The best sounding pipes I have heard were a set of PSI Modblasters on a 670X summit HO. I am also looking into there bad boy crank and some heads. I guess at high rpms like 9000 which is where those pipes shine at 7000'+ they like to destroy cranks. With those and a new clutch kit I should be able to keep up. Of course I ride with a buch of guys who have no fear and tons of money.  We went to togwatee pass last year to ride and watch the Jackson hole Hill climbs. Out of 12 sleds only 3 were stock and two of those were mine.  We had 2 modded 800 RMKs 2 modded 800 summitX 1 modded   670 summitX HO 3 modded Mountian Max 1 stock 700 RMK 1 93 polaris chassis totaly modded with a 670 HO motor in it and my 2 94 XLT SKS. But we had a blast.  We had about 12" of overnight on top of 3+ that had fallen during the week. It was definetly a powder fest.

Well it apears I have gotten carried away talking about snowmobiles. This happens often.

Finally had a chance to check the rest of your pics from the JH Hillclimb, they looked great.  I lived in Jackson in '94 and Cody in '95, but never rode in the park.  Now I kind of wish I had, with the upcoming ban.  Do you ride in the Sawtooth, particularly, Stanely?  I travelled through there and Wallace a several summers ago and that looked like a great area to ride.

I ride the continental divide in SW Colorado.  We have 160 miles of groomed trails, but those are just to get to the play areas.  I broke the bolt that holds the clutch wheel last winter, while riding by myself (DUMB) and had to walk 3 miles out in 3' of fresh snow.  My hip sockets and legs were so sore by the time I made it to the truck, I was about in tears.  Could barely walk for a week, but learned my lesson!

I hope you're done teasing me with pics because it's a long way till winter and the SnoWest mags and site aren't helping!
