What is the stock timing for a 1992 GMC Sierra with a 5.7L 350? Once you bypass the ESC system, I thought it was 0 degrees. Also, 0 degrees and TDC are the same thing correct? I am sure the answer is yes, but need to ask. Also, pre-85 350s have a different size harmonic balancer than a 350 on a stock '92 350 right? Or are they the same size, but the location of the timing marks are in different locations? Trying to firgure out a timing issue on my '92 Sierra with a GM 350 290HP crate motor.

A crate motor had a balancer & tab. This would be no issue. If you changed balancers you may have a problem since the tab maybe in a different location depending on MY. If you changed balancer or tab/cover you should have marked TDC.

So, let make sure I am understanding this correctly. Balancers should be identical, but timing tab might be in a different location...is that right? I'll have to take a look at my father's '90 and double check where the timing tab is on that one.
