Popping Noise From Under The Floor Board?

For the past couple months I've had some annoying and intermittent popping noises. Some appear to be coming from the rear driver side door or C Pillar area, but most of them are coming from underneath the vehicle. I have heard the popping noise occur from the back and even front of the vehicle - but sounds like it's under the truck, and not the cabin itself. I have actually felt the pop under my foot from the drivers seat. This typically occurs when making left/right turns or sometimes when going over uneven surfaces.

 

Since the noises are all over the place, it almost sounds like it could be the body mount/bushings causing the problem? I can't really think of anything else that would cause it. But I was wondering if there are any TSB's that might address this issue? It would make it much easier when going to the dealer with these noise complaints.

At least for my similar problem the stealer found that a brace between the chassis rails under the tranny had the incorrect bolts from the factory. The brace was working lose and rattling under certain circumstances. They replaced the proper bolts and all is well.

 

This was on my 2500HD with the Allison but I figure that all of us have this deseign. When asked why that frame member isn't welded like the rest the answer is that it's easier to drop the trans with a bolted brace.

There is a service TSB on the 2500s. Not sure if it applies to the 1500s, but it involves retightening the cross member bolts under the engine. It did fix mine. Might be the same for yours, if it has a cross member, tighten it .

There is a TSB,An insulator needs to be added to the #1 body mounts in between the body and the top half of the mount,The insulator is thin,round and made of teflon,The #1 body mounts are the one's behind the flont wheels and under the driver passenger floor. I don't know the TSB or the part #.

Yes, that's what they did to mine.

there is also a Frame popping noise with a TSB .. There have been a few TSB for a popping noise related to fasteners of the cross member I believe..

Cool. Well, if anybody runs into any specific TSB or articles explaining the noises, just let me know. It won't be going to the dealer until it's scheduled maintenance at about 17k when I'll give 'em the list of noises. At the very least I'm going to have them replace or fix something related to the popping noises before I take it back.
