Burnt Ecm-2 Fuse In An Old Style 99 Tahoe

soooo, my ecm-2 fuse keeps burning out. after researching, i found out that it could be a few things. i changed the fuel filter and the issue still remains. i read that i will probably need to change the fuel pump and that i could buy a delco replacement for about $85 (the fuel pump itself without a sending unit). I went to the parts department and they told me that the part comes as a unit (fuel pump and sender) and that it retails for $380. I've looked online and i was able to find a part number for the delco replacement pump. apparently that pump is also used as a replacement for corvette pumps?

 

My questions are:

1. Will my fuel pump cause the ECM-2 fuse to burn out?

2. If i do need a fuel pump, will it be possible for me to buy the fuel pump itself for this specific truck?

The fuel pump will cause that fuse to blow.

You can just replace the pump, but I would replace the whole unit. GM has made a update on that part.

Gm has made some changes to the fuel pump unit it is a better design and less failure rate

well, i took the fuel pump out and i saw that inside the pump/ sender assembly, there was a grey wire with its jacket completely melted off ant a section..... scary thing to be happening inside a gas tank!!!!!!!

Call or go to your local GM Dealer have them run your VIN #. There was a recall on the pump for that problem, but I can't remember if your Vehicle was part of it or not

GAve the dealer a call and they said that my truck was not affected by the recall. it was worth a shot though. thanks for your help!

so, i replaced the fuel pump, but while in the process of removing the old one, i destroyed the coupler spring that is inside the larger-diameter line (retains the fuel pup outlet to the fuel line). i was told by the dealer that the part in question is not sold by itself and that i'd have to buy the entire line. does anyone know where i could get this part by itself? if not, i guess i'll cut it and clamp in onto the outlet?
