hey guys im wondering if anyone has a shorter or after market antenna i hate the noise mine makes on the highway and my radio signal all of the sudden sucks! it used to be ok but not anymore i even check connections on my aftermarket deck and they were ok. it sucks cuz it only started being fuzzy after they put my new deck in. will an aftermarket deck help with radio signal strength? i already know it will look better and not be as loud on the highway due to the non spinny style.

thanks

My mom works at a chevy dealership so got one from thier parts department, but if you go to a local performace shop or something they sould be able to get them or give you a place to go that does have them

I eliminated the antenna, got the plastic cover for a escalade, which has no hole, and ran a peice of wire up the a pillar for an antenna. I'll post pics if you want...

Took a long piece of wire and an eyelet connector,

ran the wire up the A pilar and all the way to the back above the doors, under the rubber molding,

and snapped the new cover in place, part# 15287179, $8.41 on GM Parts Direct.

Radio reception isn't bad at all, and I live pretty far away from anything.

Good luck

Great idea. I did this mod today. Im getting radio stations i didnt know existed and the wind noise is gone. What size nut did you use? I jst have it stuck on there for now cause i couldnt find a nut that fit.

I don't remember. It was an odd metric size I found at Ace hardware. I took my antenna in, found a bolt that fit it, then got the nut for that bolt. It was an odd size of course.

Awesome mod, I'm ordering the plastic cover right now. And I suppose you could run the wire anywhere, even under the hood. Heck, I may not even bother with the antenna since I never listen to the radio. :shakehead:
