2007 Gmc Sirius Coming Denali Etc....

Hey all.

I have a 2007 GMC Denali... has factory XM --- I don't like XM.... Had sirius before in other vehicles.... Anyway, I've wanted to add Sirius to my Denali and replace the factory XM --- I looked into the SIR-GM1 unit BUT it won't work with the new LAN 2007 GMC vehicles (except Canyon)..... SO -- I taled to the folks at Integration Solutions; they make the Sir-GM1 unit... Anyway, I asked them if they had a product like the Sir-GM1 for 2007 GMC vehicles and they told me there would be a product out very soon..... as in a few more weeks (mid-sept.) ---- So, if you are wanting to change over to sirius, just hang in there... a solution is on the way.

Thanks

Thats one of the first things I do with our GM vehicles, UPGRADE the xm for SIRIUS. Tried the SIR-GM-1 once and it don't work, so since then it's been plug and play units and aux inputs if needed. I too find the xm un-listenable. If you get sick of waiting go with a plug and play Sirius unit or better yet pull the factory head unit and replace with a better one.

I wouldnt do anything because the two XM & Sirius are merging and you will be able to listen to some of your programs on the OEM radio.

That is a rumor at best. They might, they might not.

Replacing the head-unit really isn't an option for me as I have the factory navigation and the Bose system so I kind of want to keep this......

I looked at plug-n-play but I don't want a mount for the unit on the side of my dash or the floor, etc., w/ wires all over.... Wanted the clean factory OEM look that the Sir-GM1 provided.....

Anyway -- Integration Solutions said they've had TONS of emails and phones calls for a 2007 conversion from XM to Sisius, so they said it will only be a few more weeks....

I want sirius in the worst way, I'm "OK" with XM, but I've been listening to Howard since 1991, and I've gone for 6 months now without him. What I realized is that I hate every talkshow host but him, and I dont like listening to music in the morning.

That said, I purchased a Stiletto 100 (or whatever the model is) complete with car kit. The Stiletto is a bad idea for a product. In my experience the Sirius signal is slightly weaker than the XM signal, so needless to say the Stiletto didnt work so well for me in the truck. So it's ripped out, basically brand new and for sale if anyone is intersted.

At this point the need to listen to Sirius is lower than the desire to "*NOT* mount all sorts of window mounted crap in my truck.

Couldn't agree more with your line about mounting any crap to the window; dash; etc.

That's why I can't wait for the SIR-GM3A..... It will give us Sirius radio through the factory radio/ nav. I've seen the SIR-GM-1 work in a friend's 2005 denali.... It really is nice.

Just habg on for a few more weeks and hopefully the GM3 will be out soon.... although with these type of products...release promises come and go and ge reset all the time.

My truck lasted one day with the OEM head unit. I quickly pulled it out and added an Alpine deck and Sirius tuner. I've listened to XM before and never really cared for it, and really enjoy Sirius. Besides, Sirius is the only way to get Howard Stern and every NFL game. :)

I agree, the OEM head units, w/bose or w/o bose are low end, always have been. I put in a AVIC and the found not only are the Nav screens better, the audio is also better with both the bose and non-bose speaker systems. Looking stock is most times sadly equal to sounding stock.

Hey CTahoe ---- couple of questions:

I have a 07 Denali with Nav/ bose etc. If I replace my nav./head unit with a pioneer avic would I still be able to use the steering wheel controls for volume and channel selection, etc.?

2.) Would my flip-down dvd player (stock from GMC) that works with the factory nav/ unit work with the AVIC head unit?

FWIW, with my Alpine deck I was able to purchase an adapter from PAC (http://www.pac-audio.com/default.asp) that allows me to control the Alpine deck w/ my steering wheel.

Considering they are still talking about it and working through details, the XM/Sirius merger is a bit more than a rumor at this point - it's just hasn't been approved by the FCC yet. Here is the latest news regarding that...

Of course, I rarely ever listen to XM due to the crap quality. :D

But honestly, if I had realized how 'average' the 'high-end' Bose/Nav system was going to be in my YD, I woulda found one with the most basic stereo package and put in my own awesome stereo w/ sat nav. Right now, I can't really justify the $$$ for a custom stereo when I already have this expensive integrated factory system (NAV, Rear DVD, etc)... while it's under warranty and I'm still making payments on it.

Then again, when it's paid off and/or the basic warranty is up, all bets are off! :)

timmyjimmy5150,

With the bose system you'll need a Metra/Axxess GMOS-LAN-02 which will interface the AVIC with OnStar, chimes and your speakers.

To continue using the steering wheel controls you'll need a PAC #SWI-PS.

I don't have the flip down monitor, does it have a DVD player built in? Yes some AVIC's do play DVD's and do have have video outputs.

These guys do GM product aftermarket very good, give them a browse and a call. http://www.jpcustoms.com/ They are very knowledgeable and all you have to do is tell them what you have, want and they will work out what you need.

Swapping the head unit isn't all that difficult. IMO if done right it will look, sound and function better than OEM.
