Replacing Physically Broken Front Axle Actuator

So, the other day my GF took my truck to do some odds and ends. I just happened to be leaving the house at the same time, behind her in my car and see her run over a skateboard in the middle of the road. Apparently she didn't see it because her phone was ringing and she went to reach for it. Anyway, I saw that something was hanging from my truck afterwards. After some looking I found out it is the front axle actuator. The skateboard came up and hit the bloodly thing and busted the plastic case all around it.

If you look at the hole on the axle case where the actuator goes I see only a very small part of the black plastic left. My questions are; how do these actuators normally come out? Will fluid come out when I remove the old one? Finally, I called the dealer and they want $300 for a new one, I found this on ebay and I think it's the correct one, what do you think? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...DME:X:AAQ:CA:11

Thanks,

Colin

What the heck? I'd confirm it was the right one and go for it. The seller has superb feedback and it saves you about a zillion dollars. I've done over 1000 ebay deals and had very little in the way of problems... Always check the feedback.

Looks like you aren't the only one with the problem judging by how many that guy has sold.

...Well there is your problem.

...Sorry had to throw it in there. This looks like a good deal. As Zembonez put it, this seller has excellent feedback. If the actuator does not to work, I assume he/she would gladly refund your money.

[edit] I would email the seller on who the manufacturer is.(Im sure some chinese part) And what is a "brand new factory upgraded part" is?

I buy off ebay all the time so no problem there.

Anyone know how the actuator is normally removed? I'm wonder if I will need to push the actuator out from the inside since it's broken off. Any info on the replacement of the actuator would be great.

Thanks,

Colin

I'd bet that guy selling them by the dozens would have an answer for that. Surely he has come across that question a few times.

The actuator simply unscrews....if its broken off flush with your housing, it might be a pain to get out.........and yes, once you get it out, you will lose some fluid so have your new actuator ready to install before removing.......very easy swap though............

Ok, just wondering but you said the plastic is broken around it? Have you tried to see if the 4wd still works ok? Maybe you don't need to replace it.
