so today i visited the state fair and when i was leaving i pulled away after a stoplight and when accelerating my tranny slipped or something cuz it went in and out it slipped twice then grabbed but i freaked pulled off to the side of the road and pulled it out of drive and went from drive to park back to drive and hevent had a problem since is it possible the lever just was not in place all the way??????? also this has happened to me before i put it in reverse and it just revs up then i wait wiggle it and it goes into gear and i drive away Never rev it up more then 1k rpm cuz i notice it and i never click it in until the rpms have settled back to idle. im thinking its just a touchy lever what do you guys think??? slipping transmission taoday?? or is it just like the reverse problem??

My guess is the lever was not engaged completely. Just keep an eye on it.

Mine lately has been stuttering quite a bit from 1-2nd. Not sure what's going on there. Any suggestions?

Ive got to wait a second or two going from drive to reverse.......feels like its slips a bit before engaging into reverse...............I also get a shudder from 1st to 2nd.............but only on moderate to hard acceleration..........I dont know why it does this.........I heard some say that getting the pcm re-flashed or updated fixes it..............but I really dont know........be nice to know for sure but for some reaon I feel if I take in somewhere, they will just tell me the tranny needs rebuilding.

Yeah I understand that. I may need to get something done. Mine for some reason does it with softer, lower RPM shifts. If I give it a bit more gas it doesn't do it as bad. Sucks when you drive to save gas and your tranny feels like it's gonna fall onto the pavement! Where/who can I get the PCM updated/reflashed?

Anytime this has been discussed, its always the Dealers that come up as the place to get the PCM updated...............not sure if anyone else can do it.

Im having goofy trans problems too. Seems like at highway speed, if I just touch brake pedal with foot on gas, rpm jumps a few hundred rpm,..like its coming out of overdrive. It was feeling like brake was sticking, so that is why I tried this, almost like truck was riding the brake, kind of underpowered.

I did find my pass. side brake caliper is stuck, and pads are screwed. New parts on order.....(side note)

Truck has 112k, 2001 5.3 Z71 L460E? trans... I had a superchips tuner, but returned to stock. I sure liked it better with the custom shift points. Plugs are new delco iridium with wider gap(didnt mess, just popped em in)

My real question. Would a re flash help? Does anyone think returning to stock somehow fudged the script?..and finally, how much ballpark would a dealer hit me for a re tune?

Thanks,

Bring it to a GM dealer...ther is an updated computer program for this problem. Just have the Tech re-flash PCM and you should be ok.

You are simply unlocking the TCC, or torque converter clutch. Any brake switch input while TCC is engaged WILL unlock it. Normal.

Anyone know if there is a TSB for this software upgrade for the tranny?.

Sorry to bring back an old post, but heres what might be the problem!

Transmission Second Gear Shutter

Q: I have an '02 Chevy Silverado with about 20,000 miles on it. When shifting between first and second gear, it shudders. The warmer the truck gets, the more and harder it shudders. I took it to the dealership, and it's putting in a new wiring harness from the alternator to the transmission. Have you heard of this problem before? Will the wiring harness fix it?

A:The repair won't require the replacement of a complete wiring harness, but does involve a new connector along with the repositioning and addition of a few wires on the alternator circuit. It seems that the electrical feedback involved with the original routing of the charging circuit interfered with the operation of the transmission-pressure control solenoid. This resulted in a fluctuation in line pressure and produced the shudder from first to second gear, which brought you into the service department in the first place. Chances are it did a quick test to corroborate the diagnosis by simply disconnecting the alternator and taking a test drive to confirm the elimination of the 1-2 shudder. The condition may affect certain '01-'03 Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras and is documented in Chevy Technical Service Bulletin 02-07-30-030 (pulled up on the ALLDATA information system; www.alldata.com).
