So, i'm no dope and i've been doing my own work successfully for many years. My wife's 02 Denali recently started having a shuddering problem when applying the brakes. We took a long (1800 mi.) trip and by the end of it the truck would shudder badly when using the brakes. I check the runout on the front rotors and it was ok, but replaced the rotors and pads anyways. No dice. You can feel it when lightly applying the brakes so it makes me believe it's the fronts and not related to the rears. Didn't notice any wierd wear on the pads/rotors, so i'm at a bit of a loss. $200 down the drain already.

I actually just fixed the same problem but mine realy felt like warpped rotors and after replacing the front rotors and pads the problem was still there i replaced the rear rotors. I would have never guessed that it would be the rear after the way i was feeling it but after looking into it and finding out that 02 denali's are a 60-40 split and not a 70-30 i was still not sure if it could be the rear but after doing the rear pads and rotors its fine. I have warpped rear rotors on lots of other car and never felt it but this one I did. It may be that i have 22's but i felt it pretty bad in the pedal.

wow, i would never have thought it could be the rears. i suppose with the less front bias it could be, i feel it even with light pressure. guess i'll bust out the dial gage and check the runout on the rears today. i'll check it out and reply w/results later.
