Keyless Entry/bcm

My 1999 chevy blazer did not come equipped with keyelss entry. So i bought the remote and reciver module from gm. When i try to program the remote it doesn't respond. So i replaced the body control module with another chevy blazer bcm that had keyless entry. The remote was able to be programmed. But car didn't start beacause it wasn't the right bcm. So we knew we had the reciver plugged in right! So my question is do you have to, or is there a way to, reprogram the bcm for keyless entry???

Thanks

When you swap the bcm you have to have the new one program by the dealer. The reason for this is that bcm has codeing only for the truck it came out of. The bcm stores a passlock code in it and when you try to start the vehicle it is not reading the correct code from the key so it shuts off the fuel injectors. Once you get it reprogramed for your truck it should work correctly.

What if I want to use my same bcm. Can i just have the original reprogrammed?
