02 2500 Hd Tranny Troubles

have a 02 2500 hd with 55000 miles while driving it stooped at red light and went to go it reved up a little and then i heard a bang and since this happened the tranny is slipping threw all shifts. and at 55 mph and up the truck has a shake to it and slipping the shake feels like its coming from the tranny. does this mean my tranny is shot

slipping is a pretty good sign the end is near. Take it to a tranny shop.

Thats quite unusual for the 4L80E. If you bought it new i would see your dealer before you do anything especially if you have bought vehicles from the dealer before.

yes going to bring it to the dealer as i have a x warranty

I am on my second 4l80 in 10000 miles my truck only has 44000 on it. The first time it was replaced because of a bad shutter at 45 miles per hour and then after that 2 weeks later the shudder came back and they replaced the torque converter then 6 months later the tranny started slipping from second to 3rd and then so the dealer completely overhauld the unit and the 5 monthes later the slipping started again so this time they replaced with a new certa transmission so far so good with new one but Ive only put 500 miles on it so far. good luck if it has to back to dealer for a tranny fix

Sounds like you have a dumb repair shop who tried everything but replacing it all in the first place. The shutter is always "only" a torque converter for a shop (sounds like a warranty issue, or they would have gladly wanted to do it all if you were paying).

 

As for the original post-yes your tranny is in trouble. Read what happened to snorydermb and make sure they fix it all the first time, which they won't want to do, or you will be making return trips until it's all replaced anyway.

Make sure when they do any work on the trans that the change the converter & flush the cooler & lines.
