98 Chevy Silverado 2wd Alignment Won't Hold

Am considering replacing all of the front end components with MOOG aftermarket and springs. Already changed out the stock shocks for Edelbrock.

Is it typical for these trucks to loose their alignment so quickly? I have a little over 100000 miles and have gone through about 3 sets of tires since 20000 miles which is when I got the truck.

Thanks for your input and comments.

It may not be an alignment problem, it depends on how your tires are wearing. It may just be a problem with the shop you take it to to get aligned.

if you drive on rough roads or take hard corners, etc. you should get an alignment every 20K or so, about once a year.

Between alignments it will get to the point that it takes off to the right when you let go of the steering wheel. All of the mileage is on city streets and freeways.

Tires are wearing on the inside portion of the tread first-not even at all. Up til now, I have always bought Goodyears with the exception of the factory tires, which were Uniroyal. The last set I put on a couple of months were the latest coupon special no name from Firestone (which broke my heart to do-I am a Goodyear guy, but I might try BF Goodrich next).

I'd change alignment shops, it sounds like you have ball joint issues. Jack your truck up and support with axle stands, grab the tire at the 12 and 6 position and push/pull on it, if there is movement, your Ball joint is pooched. At the same time you can check the tie rod ends by using the same procedure and changing your hand position to the 3 and 9.

Another Question, are you at a different than stock height? If so, this may have something to do with it.

Thanks for the advice y'all. I will look into it.

No, this is a stock height, stock 15" tire, truck.

The air pressure is constantly checked, so that is not a problem either.

Thanks,

Jay
