Spare Tire Mechanism

This should be a simple question, but i just bought my truck about 4 weeks ago and today i just realized there is no spare tire or dropping mechanism that the spare tire mounts on (ya the one thing i didnt look at before buying) and im just curious, is the spare tire holding/dropping mechanism easily replacable? there is no lift and theres a factory installed hitch so i see no reason why is was missing it in the first place...

Thieves cut the cable to steal the spare knowing that most won't

check until much later, so an easy theft.

 

Bet the parts counter folks sell lots of replacement mechanisims...

I think it would be hard to cut the cable with the tire tucked up under the truck....

Go to a junk yard, I bet you can find one on the cheap, way less than new will cost you. But to me does not seam like their is much money in selling riped off steel wheels from trucks.

Ya ill be making my way to an auto wrecker.. the dealership want $180 for one, and for the amount it gets used.. one from the auto wrecker will do just fine..
