As soon as those things hit the streets...GTO prices are going to drop like rocks.

My goat is going no where. Not for that rabid, buck-toothed beaver look...

Not like GTO prices haven't dropped like a rock since they screwed it over with the 04's...

People got $199/month, 36 month leases, and people bought brand new ones for $25,000 and lower in January of 05. Just killed resale for other GTO's too.

Highly doubt there will be a GTO. Holden has no plan to make a Monaro (Aussie GTO) out of the current Commedore. So I doubt there will be a coupe G8 (GTO or otherwise). GM has stated it doesn't want a car in Pontiac to compete against the Camaro.

The 04-06 GTO is going to end up like the Grand National, small cult following. Unless you have driven a GTO you don't know what you are missing. It is not meant to be a Firebird replacement, it is a Grand Touring car. GM screw the pooch on it through lack of advertising and not marketing it to the market it was designed for.

The G8 is only coming out with a V6 and GT options at first. Will be interesting to see what they do with the GXP. Hopefully something closer to the HSV version in Australia. Rumblings/hopes are for a LS3 stuffed into it.

The G8 GT specs do look rather nice - V8, RWD, 361HP, respectable price, good build quality, etc. And I like the interior and exterior... except for the way it looks directly from the front. Not sure if it's the exagerated fender flares or what, but that front-end just looks... odd.

Perhaps I'll take a look at 'em when they hit the dealer lots and see if I taking one for a spin changes my mind. :banghead: Then again, there are plenty of other new RWD (and AWD) GM cars that will be out there before too long. And I'm certainly not in a hurry!

Ya there will always be rumors, but the G8 is a Holden Commedore with a new nose and badges. Yes it will be produced here, but the design is all Holden. If Holden has no desire to make a 2 door, there won't be a 2 door state side.

Lutz has also stated that there will be no sister car to the Camaro. There has been no spy shots or rumors of another two door being made.

Pontiac will have two rear wheel drives 'sport' cars. I am doubting there will be a third unfortunately. GM is trying to not compete with itself as much as it does now, and the new CAFE standards coming will put a crunch on all the 'new aged muscle car' we have or are coming soon.
