P0101

Hi i have an 03 sierra.My engine light comes on periodically so i got it scanned and it threw this code.I have owned this truck from new and put a k&n filter on it the first month with no troubles till date.I searched this problem and since i never cleaned my filter since i bought it i thought it might be clogged so i cleaned it and put min.oil on it.I also cleaned the maf with electrical cleaner.I put it back together and unplugged battery for an hour,and no more light.Until a week later it came on again.The truck doesn't lose any performance or

power but throws code.If i shut it off and restart it on the 3rd restart(driving around doing stuff) the light will automatically go off.It only seems to drop the code is when i am acceralating like from on off ramp or passing someone.Any ideas?

Jason, you are not gonna like my answer for you but here we go. GET RID OF THE D@MN K&N FILTER. The oil used for those things can wreck a MAF sensor.

There is a TSB for this I'll try to PM it to you.

Thanks for the memo.ok i was driving home tonight and the light came on when it shifted from drive into overdrive.I will change the filter but what else should i do?Did i do damage to my tranny from this thing?

I own a 2006 Silverado and I also have been fighting this P0101 problem for the past year. I purchased a Volunt cold air intake for the truck after i bought it and had no issues for the 1st yr. I have tried a number of things including just recently replacing the MAF sensor with a JET after market MAF sensor. I also have on order a new non oil Volunt air filter. I'm hoping that this will fix the issue, but if it doesn't...might anyone else have any ideas??

YES, I made the same mistake and put a complete K & N system in my 2500HD and the oil from the filter wrecked the MAF sensor too the tune of a 600 dollar repair with the fuel and throttle body treatment and putting the whole stock air filter system back in !!!! the diagnostic fee etc.

Anyone wanna buy a complete K & N system ???

It was the same code P0101 that came up from this mess.
