Alright I have a 2003 silverado. It has 30,000 miles on it and of course out of warrenty. My problem is with the gadges, radio, A/C, dome light, shift indicator, back up lights, and remote mirros. I have power to my radio (I can eject a cd) however nothing displays on the screen or nothing will play. When I start my truck i can't tell what gear I am in because it is not lit up. My battery, oil, gas, temp all stay at very bottom (but there is power) my speedo and tach work. I checked some connects but only wiggled the connections, and everything seemed to be good. This all started one day when I turned on the radio, everything just quit. It did come back for a short period of time but when I tried to turn the radio on again it quit. and now it just stays off. Sorry for the long post, anyone HELP please.

Thanks Bryan

check your fuses and try unplugging the radio, sound like something is getting short cuircuted. This may or may not help, but it's where I would start since everything worked ok until you turned on the radio.

Parker,

Carefully check all your fuses, they are listed in the owners manual. I you have a OBD II code reader, that might show the code causing the problem. I would think that if all the fuses are ok, then the (BCM) Body Control Module has malfunctioned. The dealers put 5 BCM's and 2 instrument cluster panels in my 06 Duramax trying to find why the instrument cluster back lights kept going out and the BCM kept blowing up. The fifth time, I suggested the light/dimmer switch might be shorting out............I was right, they replaced the light switch module and I now have instrument cluster back lights that work everytime.

My bet is the BCM, the dealer has to R/R the BCM and reprogram it with their main computer via their Tech 2 programmer. I don't know of any way for the "do-it-yourself"

Thanks alot for the replys....I will try and take it in tomorrow to test the BCM....I will also take a look at the fuses again to make sure there is not a problem there. I agree it has something to do with a short in the radio, I just did not realize that almost eveything on the gadge cluster is connected in! I will keep an updaye as I am sure this won't be the last time someone has this problem.

If anyone else has had similar problem please chim in

Thanks
