Wow, $60 is a little steep. It usually costs me $35 or so With Mobil 1 Extended Perf. and a Wix 57060. Where did you buy your supplies?

Well I paid about 40 bucks for 6 qts of oil (5.50ish per qt) and a fram filter (5 bucks), Then I could have done it myself but the the place I went charges 13 bucks and they give me a sticker :idiot: LOL. Its worth not dealing with doing it myself. So all in all about 55 bucks.

$13 is not too bad for the labor. On occasion, I've used nearly that much in shop towels and Band-Aids :idiot: .

Incidently, if you are interested in hours of entertainment, search the web to see why Fram filters are typically not regarded as the best choice for an oil filter. That said, I used them for years without issue, before I was "enlightened" Cheers!

PS I too am a motorcyclist. I have always thoutht that ape-hanger bars would cause your hands/arms to get numb in less than an hour. Is that the case? Thanks.

.... and a fram filter

Take that off. Fram filters are probably the worst you could put on. They are a cheaply made filter.

GOOD GOOGLY GOO!!! why am I always the last to know this crap!! What filter do I need to go with then? DAMNIT. Im so mad now. Ill change it after this interval. The apes are not a problem. I hated the way the Fatboy handle bars were bc Im 6'3 and I was leaned over. Now Im comfortable as can be and my hands/arms never get tired.

My truck just turned 3000 miles and I made the switch to mobil 1. Wanted to break the engine in with dino oil first them make the switch. I paid 56 buck to have mine done at me local dealer.

I switched mine to Mobil 1 at 2500 miles. I used the Mobil 1 filter. They aren't cheap compared to others at about $10 a piece but it was really well constructed and they've gotten good reviews. I'll see when I change it next and cut it open. The Mobil 1 filter is a #M113 and the OEM is a PF48 IIRC. There is a crossmember in the way so its kind of difficult to get in there with a strap wrench. I would suggest you get a cup wrench.

I've got 5w30 Mobil 1 Extended Perf in mine (switched at 3,500 miles when I bought it). I used the AC Delco filter. And yes, the filter is a biatch to get out. Mine was on their tight and I had to use the screwdriver method :idiot:

Get the Mobil One. STAY AWAY FROM FRAM! I once had a Toyota pickup that I used a Fram in. Everytime I started the truck, the oil light would stay on for several seconds after the rest of the lights went out. I changed to Mobil One, and never had a problem like that again. Now my Silverado and Avalanche both have a Mobil One.

Wix, Purolator, AC Delco, mobile one, pick one there all good. As for the Fram, I wouldnt wait. I would replace it ASAP and topp off the oil.
