06 1500 Silverado Leaf Springs

Ive had my 06 silverado for about a year now. It has the 4.8 reg cab long bed. When I bought it I was under the impression that it was the work truck model (no power windows, cd player, ect.) and that it was somewhat heavy duty. But whenever i would put a load of fireword or bags of cement the truck would sag an almost embarassing amount.

Recently a co-worker of mine swapped his 04 chevy 2500 leaf springs for a heavier duty set and he gave me his old ones (about 20000 miles on them). I measured them and mine and the length seems to be the same. I was wondering if for one they would fit, and second will they throw off the geometry of the truck and cause problems down the road?

Might want to add a leaf only (Leaf Helper), that is what I did with my silverado and it does not sag anymore, it was easier to do versus replacing the entire leaf set and relatively inexpensive

Drew, you can put those 2500 leaf packs on your truck but it will give a whole new meaning to the term "rough ass riding truck".

I just bought the Pro-Comp Add-a-Leaf from summit, will probably install it wednesday, If you want I can take pictures of the whole process. It was a nice excuse to buy a new 3 ton jack too, believe it or not the jack I used on my old tercel couldnt cut it.....

There's definitely truth to this! But, if you go with an add-a-leaf in the spring packs, the extra stiffness is barely noticable. I hauled lots of firewood in my '99 1/2-ton after deciding on an add-a-leaf. It was a cheap and satisfying fix for me and added about 1-1/2 to 2" of lift.

I agree. The added leaf is probably the best solution. You could sell those 2500 springs pretty easily I would imagine and the add a leaf would not cost anything.

Not bad!

Drew.We all agree here....Go with the add-a-leaf,Like Woodcutter said also you won't notice any extra ride stiffness,I didn't on my '99 and it added about an 1-1/2" of lift.

nope, but you might get something if you post on Ebay, somebody is always buying stuff off there (me include)

Hmmm... That looks different than the setup I got... I think mine goes underneath the springs? Or is that the difference between helper springs and add-a-leafs?
