Fuel Headache!

I have a 2002 silverado 1500 with fuel issues. We changed the fuel pump, because it wasn't making noise. Now The new pump doesn't work either. I tested the new pump by jumping wires from battery, and the pump is fine. I also have power to the pump through the orange and grey wires, and ground through the black. The purple wire doesn't seem to do anything, but I don't know what it's purpose is either. I have tested the old pump, and that DID work by jumping wires. I'm at a loss!!

OK, you've got power and ground...but is there high resistance in those wires?

The purple wire is the fuel level sender signal that goes back to the PCM. The orange wire provides the sender the reference voltage.
