Circulation Pump Woes

I was pleasently surprised at how easy the water pump is to replace on the 6.0. I was bragging to my wife how much money I saved (local shop wanted 5 hours labor) I did it in 2.5-3 and that was flushing, replacing hoses and belts. Now today I found a leak and figured it was around the gaskets. But here is a new one to me it is leaking where the upper rad hose flange is seated in the housing, right on top of the pump. I should have waited on a new part instead of going with the $50 cheaper reman they had in stock. At least I have the learning curve down.

Here's a tip that might help in the future. Whenever I change out a radiator, water pump, themostat, etc... BEFORE I button everything back up, I fill the system and see if there are any leaks ( engine off, no pressure, but if it's going to leak now, it will leak when hot and under pressure). It doesn't catch all leaks but it will catch the obvious ones. Hope this helps for the future.
