2003 silvy 5.3 pulling a jayco trailer

 

I have pulled this trialer many times without any problems with the electric brakes but when i pulled it home yesterday the brakes did not actuate when stepping on brakes like normal i could manual engage them with the slide control. the brake lights come on when the pedal is pressed i checked all the connections and all seem good can someone tell me where else i should check

If you have a volt meter, check the actual voltage at the wireharness on your vechicle.

Just because the brake lights come on means nothing.

Just re-read your post, I think I might have misunderstood. If you could manually activate the brakes with the 'manual slide', then I would think that either the controller is out of adjustment, or is defective.

What type of brake controller are you using ?

could be a bum controller, what kind and how old is it?? if you can apply them manualy like you said that the pressing the break pedal should have the same effect
