Ext Cab Window (1st Time Posting)

hi, 1st time posting. i bought a 2006 silverado z-71 and i love it. i am having 1 problem and wondering if anyone can help me. i have the extended cab and when i get up to speed (60 mph) i can hear wind coming in the top of the extended cab window on the drivers side. the seals are all in place but if i reach back while driving and push gently on the top of the window, it gets louder, so i know thats where it is coming in from. does anyone know of a recall for this or a simple solution? i would appreciate any and all suggestions. i know its not a huge deal but it bothers me, oh and i almost forgot, when i took it through the car wash, water got all in the inside because of it. help!!!!

Open the door and check the weather seals around the door. You might have to apply some adhesive to keep the weather strip in place. I had that problem w/ my 04.

You could try to spray silicon spry on your weather striping to soften it up and make it more pliable. I spray mine once a year with silicone spray to keep it soft. It is also good to spray it before winter because it helps keep your doors from freezing shut. On my 1994 WT the weather stripping was like the day when I bough it new.

Do you have a bug deflector?

bug deflector? this is on the window not the hood. i do not have the things that go on the windows though. just a regular old window with the little plastic lock that you can open and extend to a locking position so the wind will not shut the rear window.

If it's still under warranty, take it in. They may not do anything for wind noise, but if it's leaking water, they will. When I bought my 2000 GMC brand new, within the first year, both wing windows had excessive wind noise and one leaked water in car washes. The dealer replaced both windows, frames and all. The driver's side was good forever, but eventually, the pass side did get wind noise again. It's a piss-poor latch design IMO. If you pull on the latch, the wind noise stops, but there is no tension adjustment, why not GM? Good luck!!

The windows will be covered under warranty. Iv'e had two of them replaced on my 05. There may be a TSB on this.

For you people out of warranty, There is a guy on ebay selling the latches that are .50 shorter than stock. They seem to fix the problem fairly well. They are $35 a set. The item # is 260171956364.

Hope this helps,

it does help. thanks don. 1 more question. i bought this from a honda dealer at a tent sale. (couldn't pass up the deal) what kind of warranty would this be cover under? do you have to be the original owner to have the warranty cover this or is it transferrable? thanks everyone for the help. this is a great message board.

It doesn't matter. As long as you are not over on miles or years who ever owns it is covered. The warranty goes with the vechicle not the owner.

Have a good one,

I bought some very thin house window sealing foam tape.i found the place it was leaking and use this to seal it up and havent had a problem.I also put a zip tie around the latch so no one could open it since i dont use them nor does anyone else need to.

This is also my first time posting. I had this problem on my 06 and I had 40,000 miles on it. I took it in and they said that the glass had to be changed they told me that it would be around $900 to have it fixed and that GMC would pick that up after I paid the $100 deductiable. I was very satisfied with the results.
