Changing Headlights

Well, my grandpa (the one I bought my truck from) just bought a 2008 Cadillac DTS, and I took it for a drive at night, and I am VERY impressed with the lights. They have a very white tint to them, its not like a lot of the blue lights I have seen in peoples cars. So my question is, will the bulbs from the cadillac headlights fit in my truck? I would just like to have them in my low and high beams, fog lights, and reverse lights. I just thought it might be more cost effective than buying the expensive aftermarket lights.

Well I did a quick check and those are factory HIDs...Maybe you can find out what color range they are and get the appropriate HID kits. It will not be a direct swap from the DTS to your truck, but you can get the kits a lot cheaper than what the Caddy's are going for.

The color temp is 4300K

for HIDs, the lower the numer the whiter it will be, doesn't count for the 2k though, those are more yellow ( ricer fogs ) 4k seems just right

Yes, you can just stick HID xenon bulbs into your factory light housings and they will magically work.

I checked it on Sylvania's site and the DTS has a dedicated headlamp assembly it seems like, the bulbs aren't listed as separate items.

True HID's require an outboard powersupply/igniter, there are many plug in kits available that are a snap to install. I have personally used kits from Higher Level Automotive and have had great success with them in my 2001 2500HD the install took about 30 minutes and the 4300K color temperature is near the same color as noontime daylight and gives you that bright white darkness penetrating light, it is the same color used in Acura/BMW/Audi/Cadillac HID headlights.
