Clunking When Turning Left

I have a problem when I am driving +25mph, and make a left turn ..... truck has a "clunking" sound, that is especially evident if road is little bumpy ..... It feels like something is loose, but wouldn't that happen with any turn????

Not sure how to check it, as I have to be in truck on the road to get it to do it. Any advice on how to proceed is appreciated, and I will try anything to get it fixed ..... :(

I'm with Patrick. If you have 4X4 it points to a CV joint.

It is a 4x4 Z71 ..... also have a small leak somewhere of P.S fluid that I thought was the pump, but it isn't (got rid of aftermarket pump and put back a DELCO) and still have tiny leak .... maybe from steering box????? Can the CV joint leak?

I am going to crawl under the truck this evening, any ideas on what to check for, besides the obvious leaks??

Also, if I do need new CV joint, is local parts house like autozone, advanced auto good to get them or better to get from GM?

Here are special tools, which ones are needed?:

http://www.autozone.com/in_our_stores/loan.../wheel_axle.htm

Thanks for any/all your help .... I am little excited to work on CV for first time ever .....

Best I can say is, clean up the hoses, pump and box. Then run the engine and see where fluid is comming from. If you changed the pump, it may be leaking from the hose fittings.

CV joints dont leak. The boot can be torn and the grease inside can be thrown out when it rotates.

This LINK gives you a general idea on how to do it. Someone else could chime in with the exact procedure.
