Bostonsfavson Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I just installed some McCulloch 6000K HID lights in my '07 Sierra Denali today. They look great and glare doesn't seem to be an issue. No one has flashed me their high beams yet, so I don't think I'm blinding anyone either. That's the good news! The bad news is that when I started the truck I got a steady check engine light. I thought that perhaps the new lights were drawing enough juice that they might be throwing a code, even though I wired the power directly to the battery and used factory grounds. Here's where things get a little odd though: my factory remote start no longer works. The lock and unlock features work, but when I go to start the truck (by hitting the lock button and then the remote start button) the truck locks (as it should) but then only makes a "CLICK" sound and then nothing. The starter doesn't even turn. I can't seem to find any pertinent fuses, and when I use the key, the truck starts right up as usual. I'll have the code read tomorrow; until then, any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I haven't had any of the issues you've described. Actually, the install went surprisingly smooth, after I got their "you make the connector" thing put together and working. Remote start works and no engine lights or anything. That said, I did have one problem, after putting things back together... I had also installed a Volant CAI at the same time. When I put it all back together, I forgot to plug the MAF back in. I don't think I got the CEL on that, though. I seem to remember the DIC kept telling me "Service Stabilitrak".. I'm not sure how the two are related. But, when I plugged the MAF back in, the DIC alert went away. I'd suggest double-checking wiring and connectors. Maybe you have a bad or loose ground somewhere or maybe something either isn't plugged back in at all or maybe isn't all-the-way plugged in, if that makes sense..? Good luck and let us know what you find!
Bostonsfavson Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 Haha yea Michael those weren't exactly the best instructions ever were they? The install went well for me too. I suspect that in disconnecting and hooking up my dual battery set-up a few times during the install I may have "confused" the electrical system. Not sure though.

I suspect that in disconnecting and hooking up my dual battery set-up a few times during the install I may have "confused" the electrical system. Not sure though. That might have happened, too. You might try leaving the batteries disconnected overnight and hook them up in the morning..? See if maybe that helps? If that doesn't do the trick, I think I'd start double-checking connections -- if it were me. And, yeah, those "straight forward" instructions I had read about weren't quite as straight-forward as I had hoped for. But, they could've definitely been worse! HA! I did a lot of "Ok, which one of these pieces is supposed to be THAT thing they're talking about?" I think I wound-up just taking the two sets of pieces and figuring out what fit with what and worked backwards from there. It ended-up being more "OH! THAT's what they're talking about! ....ok....!" This is the first vehicle I've worked on in years, though. So, I thought maybe I was just being dense!
