Nbs Sunroof Noise

I have a 2008 Sierra Crew CAB with a factory sunroof. When it is open the wind deflector pops up to decrease wind flow and noise. However at highway speeds it starts flapping up and down making more noise and wind then if I just ripped it off. I have fully inspected it and based on my untrained inspection everything looks like it is connected correctly.

Has anyone noticed this? It is easy to duplicate. Just open you your sunroof and start driving and at around 65 - 70 mph the deflector will start flapping around. Very annoying.

rivets may be loose.........under warranty, take it in

I obviously have an extended cab,but mine doesn't flap or vibrate at those speeds.

Mine makes a slight noise when fully closed at speeds above ~40MPH.

Okay, I checked the rivets holding the spring steel down that pushes up the deflector. They appear to be be tight. However after careful inspection it looks like the deflector raises about an 8th too high so the bottom of it in the middle is slightly over the roof of the cab so some air can actually get below it.

See the picture. The red arrows are pointing to the perceived gap.

yep, those rivets may be tight, but not holding it down correctly, make an appointment with the dealership and they will rip out the old deflector and probably replace it with a new one with new rivets and probably put some double sided tape (for good measure), unless you want to do that............
