I remember when that happed to me last winter, lucky for me it only lasted 6 hours and then the ice started melting off. scratched my truck though when chunks fell off.

Wow!

I have had ice built up on my truck before and it took forever to get it off, but it was nothing like what you have. It looks like it may get warm enough there to melt it off eventually, when I was in Grand Forks it did that and then dropped to about 0 degrees for a few weeks.

Standing outside and being quiet...It's like gunshots all over the neighborhood.

That's the sound of trees just breaking branches off. Some of them can't handle the added weight.

I hope mine holds up.

Couple more.

The pictures of the street and the trees. Is that your street or in your neighborhood or...? I'm sure feeling glad to be far enough south that all we got was rain. Cold rain, but just rain.

i remember that happening every year when i lived in arkansas .. have yet to see it now that i am back in louisiana tho ...

what is spooky ... is while you are outside checking what you have in the icechests (kept food out on the front porch since had no power for 2 weeks) ... and you are hearing the gunshots .. then suddenly one is louder and you notice a lot of stuff fall off your roof ... only to find out that the branch landed on top of your roof .. =P

Nah, those trees were a couple of miles away. I was heading out for some brisket for lunch, and happened to look down a street and saw that. So I went back and snapped some pics. That whole neighborhood was screwed...And that really kinda sucks, because it's not exactly a neighborhood where people have a lot of extra cash laying around. Some of those people are going to have a rotten Christmas.
