Chrome Tow Hooks.

hey guys, the next upgrade for my truck is ganna be some nice and shiney chrome tow hooks.I'm mainly getting the hooks for the looks. there was time I pulled trees, log and other heavy meterials with my old 92 ford.but now if I'm faced with this situation in my sierra, once I hook up the chains to chrome hooks is there a good chance it will chip or crack the chrome?has this happened to anyone?I'd like to know, if the chrome will chip ill jus go with the plane ol black.thanks.todouble,

Chrome will be fine, as long as you use a strap instead of chains.

I Installed them back in May and haven't seen any problems at all. I realize that's not that long ago but wanted to throw this out there.

I installed mine late last week and, other than the polished chrome finish, they looked just as sturdy as the OEM black ones that were replaced.

On the topic of tow hooks, the factory ones look like thet are pretty light duty. Has anyone had problems with bending or snapping?

Are you EVER even going to use them. NO. what could you possible want to tow with your brand new truck and risk scratching or bending or breaking.

 

now on the older chevys......... i pulled one out of the ditch today by NICE, USEFUL, tow hooks.

As far as strong, yes they are strong, actually straonger than the old style, about half the thickness, but a closed loop, as oposed to the old style which were more hook shaped with an open end.

A closed loop will make getting a strap on difficult unless you loop it through. If you do that getting it off afterwards will be a royal PITA! Think of a knot tied real tight in your shoelace.

Are the chrome tow hooks Centrifuge Rated, like the F-150s?

 

 

I'd hate for my truck to fly off a centrifuge just because I wanted shiny tow hooks. Just sayin'.
