Trans Fluid Was Low

I checked my trans fluid the other day after driving for about 30 mins or so and it showed just touching the dipstick at cold...so I added a little at a time and after a whole quart it finally touched the first hole....so I added a drop more. I checked it after a few mins and

it was slightly over the max full hole by about 1/2 an inch...should I worry about this and suck some out or leave it be??

Yes its important that trans is not overfilled. Overfilling will cause foaming of the fluid and improper operation.

I discovered my tranny fluid was a qt low right after I took delivery in Aug '07. Barely showed on the stick. I couldn't find any Dex VI to add back and took it back to the dealer. It operated fine at a qt low, a pint high should not be a problem. Get a Goodwrench oil change on the next maint. and point it out to them. Let them suck it out.

my buddy has the sucker thing.....I think i should have stopped at 1 qt.....a lot of people have had their truck a quart low from factory.....a pint shouldnt matter right?

Probably not, but if you had a tranny failure I guarandamtee that GM would say that was the reason.

i just talked to jesse bubb at wait4me performance and he said that you should check the trans fluid in neutral...i guess the manual says that too? Will this change the level up or down???

The manual outlines a hot (preferred) and cold level check. You should check on level grade, idling at operating temp for the most accurate reading. I don't think park or neutral differ in any way other than the parking pawl is engaged when in park (and you may remove your ignition key) because either way, you are not in a selection that will allow power to the wheels.

Take out your 2007 manual, page 510, it says check it in PARK !

Check it in park. And a little over wont hurt anything.

it is only like a half an inch over the full mark....probobly only a pint....wont hurt for a few days i would think...wed i'll suck some out to be on the safe side
