Remote Start Problem

Was installing remote start in my 04 sierra 1500. took the ignition switch out to get to the ignition wires. switch feels like it is in the right position. when key is turned to acc, or whatever they call the first position, the gear display comes up along with the display battery light. when turned to run, the ac/ heat blower comes on but no other change. no start. took the battery and had it tested and it is still good. headlights work and almost all the other electrical systems work. door chime, dome light, headlights all work. no radio and no display lights other than the gear display and the battery light on the instrument panel. if you have any ideas please let me know so I can avoid missing any more school or work.thanks
