I have a 2000 silverado with keyless entry and i want to add a remote start to it and i have seen set up where you can add the remote start and keep the factory remote and it starts the truck by pressing the lock button 2 times, but before i do this i would like to know te range of the factory remote before i go this way. thanx alot

Mine is 200 feet.

It came with remote start. It works okay but in a parking lot cars can get between you and the receiver complicating things.

so what ur saying is i would be better off with an aftermarket one with a better range

hell yea, go with an aftermarket. Imo IF the range is less then a half mile it aint worth it. you got to ask yourself what u want it for. if u want it just to start it up wile ur walking to ur truck get a cheaper one with 500- rang. but if u want one to get ur truck warmed up / cooled down u want something u can start it up with from a distance.for example its cold as hell outside and u get off work I 5 mins, start the truck up by the time u punch out or whatever and u make it out to the truck it will be warmed up and u can just take off instad of sitin in the truck in the lot waitin for it to warm up. same goes if u were leaving the house, or anywahre.check out the viper 5900, installed for 400 here.I hope I helped..
