5.3 Non Flex-fuel?

Hey guys, the truck i was looking at ordering got sold so the dealer found another identical truck but apparently it's a 5.3 without flex fuel? I didn't see anything about these on their website, but is the engine essentially the same as far as horsepower and torque go? And without the ability to burn E85? and does the engine still have the Active Fuel Management? If the only difference is not being able to burn E85 then thats fine with me and ill be picking up the truck tomorrow. Thanks for the input!

Actually, I believe the non-E85 5.3 has a few more ponies. I wouldn't worry about it, by the time E85 makes sense (if ever), you will be on your next truck.

Pretty sure the only difference is the E85 capability. Check the manufacturer website (you didn't say Chevy or GMC), it should tell you everything you need to know.

The only difference there is the e-85 compatability. Everything else is the same. BTW, Coskata is hoping to have cellulosic ethanol available by 2011 for around $1.00 per gallon. Let's hope, I'm gonna keep my e-85 silvy for a while.

It's a GMC by the way. Great news that it's all the same, i was starting to get really excited to get my truck tomorrow but it seems like nothing ever goes smoothly . If the only difference is the E-85 compatiability thats fine with me! looks like I'll be driving home in something new tomorrow.

Pretty much the same scenario happened to me last year when I purchased this truck. I had two almost identical Silverados at different dealerships, and I thought they were both E85-compatible 5.3s. Turns out the one I got a better deal on had a few more goodies but was not a flex-fuel engine.

 

Turns out it doesn't matter: 9 months and 8,500 miles later, I don't think I've driven past an E85 gas station yet! (I knew better than to buy into what the dealer was saying about the ethanol craze.)
