Starting Issues On 98 5.7

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but have had my truck since 99.

It's a 98 GMC Sierra 1500, ext. cab SLT. It has a 5.7 with 154,xxx miles. I have replaced the fuel pump twice and water pump once.

Anyway, it was -10F last night and somewhere around 7F outside right now. It hasn't had trouble starting at all recently until today. It just won't start. I turn the key to "on" to allow the fuel pump to charge up and then try to start but it wont' fire. It turns over and starts to "rumble" a little bit like it wants to start but fails and just continues to turn over.

A friend of mine suggested checking the fuel pressure but I don't know where that is. He also suggested checking the spark plugs for a spark. Any other ideas?

Thanks

The easiest places to start. Pull off the air cleaner look at the to fuel injectors, have someone turn the key to on posistion the fuel injector should spray some fuel. If not then your problem is fuel related. also you can spray a little starter fluid and see if it fires.

Next check is spark, pull off one of the spark plug wires and lay it on the block. have some one crank the truck over and see if it sparks. You may have to insert a srew driver in the spark plug boot.

Let me know what you find after all of that.
