Made A Greese Fitting

Well I tried the new shaft in my truck that gm offers and it still clunked like the older ones. I called the dealer and told them I want my 100.00 back. They agreed to send me a check. So i made a greese fitting old the old shaft and put it in. It still clunks a bit but I doubt there is anything that can fix it. Any of you guys do this? If so, how much greese do you put in and when do you know when to stop? Thanks
