Neutral Safety Switch

Hello I own a service company and have a few 03 3500 GMC vans. I am having an issue with one of them right now that I thought was the Neutral Safety switch that mounts to the side of the trans.

The issue was that the van would not start because the trans thought it was is a gear and not in park. the gear indicator light on the dash would jump around while driving. Until recentaly it has not caused a problem and the tech that drove that van of course never said anything about it until he was in a customers driveway and could not start the van. He was able to finialy get it started after some wiggling and probally beating on the dash.

I went and got a Neutral safety switch from the dealer and replaced it. Everything seemed to work fine. two days later the tech calls me and says now that the van holds the gear way to long. Not shifting when it should.

The question is does this switch need or have any adjustment as to shift points for the computer? Is there something that I missed when installing the switch?

Thanks for you help

Nope that switch has nothing to do with a delayed shift. You have another issue.

Any idea why this would have started happing after the switch was replaced? The tech said that it wasn't doing that before the switch was changed. Also the computers are not showing any fault codes.

Any other Ideas ??????

Thanks

Frank
