Keys & Keyless Remote Stolen

Recommended Posts

I had my keys & remote stolen.

I need to disable the remote function in my truck until I can get it rekeyed.

Is there a fuse or wire that I can pull to disable it?

If necessary, I can pull the door panel.

Thanks for any advice

I'm not being a smart ass or anything, just a question. If they have the keys, couldn't they just unlock it with them? Wouldn't matter if the keyless was disabled or not. If you do need to disable it, look in your owner's manual, it lists what each fuse does. If your manual is gone, maybe someone else will know.

Owner's manual??? what's that?? kidding...

I'm glad you mentioned that...thank you!!

I hadn't looked in the owner's manual after being told by a tech at the dealership that it could only be done by hooking up the their programer.

I did just go out and check the manual...apparantly Fuse A is for the power seats, keyless entry module and something else.

I pulled that fuse. The power seats are disabled...I could confirm that, but I'm not 100% sure about the keyless part. I have no way to test it, that I know of.

I will be having my locks rekeyed as soon as I figure out how to remove the ignition key cylinder.

I disabled the vehicle. If the "bad guy" comes back, he (she?} will have to do quite a bit of diagnostics and then procure the necessary part(s) to start the truck.

Yes, the bad guy will have a key. But, when I get the keys changed, I really won't want to have him have a working remote.

I'll take care of that part later. At the moment $$ is a bit of an issue...

go on ebay for a new remote...when you reprogram the new remote all of the previously existing remote codes will be erased....if you have another remote handy you can actually go ahead and do it, it only takes about 5 min.

Yep, and you can find the instructions to program the new remote(s) at http://www.programyourremote.com/
