Cab Makes Creaking Noises

Hey guys...I wonder if anyone has encountered this problem. I have an 08 Sierra 2500 HD extended cab. The doors creak and make annoying noises when I travel over small bumps at low speeds. It seems to be the gasketing around the front doors, but it is tough to isolate. The dealer has tried twice to fix it but only smears lubricant on the gasketing...they don't know what to do. ANY IDEAS to fix this annoying noise?

Are you sure it's the doors and not the seats?

Yes, I am sure it's not the seats. I can hear where it comes from, but the frame bolts do sound like a possibility. Do you mean that the frame is allowing the cab to twist and then causing the creaking sound? Thanks in advance.

I thought this problem was fixed in 2007-guess not. The early 2007 NNBS, Tahoes, and Suburbans has this problem. We had several of them in our fleet at work and we had to turn the radios up to enjoy the ride.

I don't know what the problem is/was, but it was common around here. Our 2008's seem ok though. I would think the dealer would know what it was....maybe not.

For what it's worth check your body mounts. I have a NNBS CC and one of my body mounts looks like it was over torqued at the factory and the rubber bushing is sqeezed out of the housing. I haven't had any noise/creaks but it's going to the stealership this afternoon to get it fixed.

Typically seals will be extruded with a silicone coating. Possible these missed a step, or it was too light. Try cleaning them off, then wiping down with a good silicone lubricant. (Don't spray the seals, spray a rag and wipe the seals.)

I had the same issue with my 06 ECLB. Sounded like the seals between the extended doors and the front doors. Wiped all the seals down as described above. Did this once sixteen months ago and no issues since. Don't know what kind of lube your dealer is using, but might try something else.

Thanks for the ideas. When I go for my 3k oil service I'll ask them to check the bolts and I'll perform the silicone application myself. I certainly like the idea of it lasting atleast 16 months and not 2 days!

Also try this - if you peel back the weather strip you will find a small hole to the interior of the strip about every six inches or so. Using the little tube on the silicone can, give each one a little spray to lubricate the inside of the weatherstrip. This is where 90% of the noise on my Crew Cab was coming from, and doing this eliminated it. Additionally, GM recently released a new roof line weather strip. Have the dealer replace it. There is a TSB on it. That eliminated the other 10% of the the noise in mine.

I no longer feel like I'm going insane driving my truck!
