They can try to blame the tires, but using different tires than OEM (assuming they are same size and load rating as the OEM) in no way affects the vehicle warranty.

A "CPO" or a "CPOS"?
-
By then they may not even have a V8 anymore. Everyone is turbocharging small 4 and 6 cylinder engines now. With all the problems they have now all they need is a crappy quality turbo and undersized intercooler made in China.

Was that "factory highway shake" standard equipment or an option?

He is referring to caliper mounting bolts, not the sliding caliper pin bolts! I think those sliding pin bolts should only be tightened snug. I assume that these are floating calipers.

Try this product to touch up your frame. it is a wax like yellow color substance and it stays tacky and attracts dirt, so eventually it will be black like the rest of the frame. It adheres well to painted or bare metal and it provides great protection against corrosion. The cost is about $ 9/can and most marine supply stores have it.

This appears to be a different issue. The evaporator is located inside the truck, the condenser is in front of the radiator in the engine compartment. the case that holds the evaporator is made of plastic or fiberglass, so your problem is most likely a crack in that plastic or fiberglass housing. Normally the condensed water from the evaporator coils is drained through the truck floor onto ground.

https://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2016/03/the-mysterious-chevy-shake-is-affecting-pickup-trucks-now-too.html "GM does not believe this is a safety issue. Unless it is deemed a safety issue, GM is not obligated to recall the trucks." Translation: Go pound sand. So the only way you are going to force GM to fix this problem is not to keep buying these trucks and hoping that yours will not vibrate.

2017 Canyon 8 Speed Absolutely Horrible
pm26 replied to Canyon Conundrum's topic in 2015-2022 Colorado & Canyon (2nd Gen)
Thanks for the info. I was considering buying a new 2018 Colorado 4X4 WT. It has a 3.6 V6 and 8 speed automatic. It is a shame that they do not offer a nice 6 speed manual transmission with that package. Considering all the vibration problems with full size Silverados and this 8 speed auto transmission issue I do not think buying a new Chevy truck is a good idea now, no matter what the discounts. I could actually get about $9 k off the sticker with my GM card rebate included on that Colorado, but I'll pass. I do not need a headache, I will keep driving my 2006 Silverado with the old 4 speed auto. No issues with the engine or transmission so far (although the truck has low mileage). -
Have you considered removing the "high country" emblem and substituting something like "high shake edition" in its place? I think that would help convey the message to anybody who is behind your truck at any time.

I really do not know when it makes sense to trade a vehicle anymore. It seems that no matter what you trade in, no matter how good it looks, dealers nowadays will try to steal your trade, even if they sell you a new vehicle at an attractive price. I am old enough to remember that if you traded a car or truck in 1980s and early 1990's dealers were content to make a $ 1000 profit on your trade and they assessed it accordingly. Today they expect to make a $ 4000 to $ 5000 profit (or simply put as much as they can) on your trade and they low ball you insolently on everything you try to trade in. It has gotten so bad that even Kelly Blue book seems to be rigged to maximize dealer profits. Just look at the difference between dealer retail and trade in value! And the same goes for motorcycles and other vehicles. i was absolutely stunned how little several dealerships offered me for a showroom condition 2009 Kawasaki Concours with 6500 miles! It seems that if you have a vehicle that you like driving and it does not cause you much grief, hold on to it until it is worth no more than couple thousand dollars or so and then donate it to charity.

Well, you can still get a 5.0 non turbo V8 on a Ford F150 and F250s and up come with the 6.2 liter non turbo V8 standard. And why are Dodge Ram trucks junk? What about the new Nissan Titan?
-
You need fuel efficiency? That's why you got a full size truck with a 6.2 liter engine? Don't make me laugh. Here is a fuel efficient vehicle for you: 2017 Ford Focus SE, 1.0 liter 3 cylinder turbo, 6 speed manual transmission. They are selling them brand new here in Florida for $12,700 (sticker is about $19,000).

You may find out that your "bumper to bumper" warranty is in reality "bumper & bumper" warranty that covers nothing between the bumpers.
-
This attitude of GM just makes one more determined to look elsewhere when shopping for a new truck.
-
The root cause of most of issues that you have experienced is insufficient quality control, both at parts manufacturing phase and during the vehicle assembly phase. Manufacturing vehicles in other countries often makes it more difficult to enforce adequate quality control, even if it is in place.

Actually, he got the 28 lb force variation tire down to 20 lb, and the 22 lb tire down to 18 by breaking the bead and rotating each tire relative to the rim. I do not know what the force variation upper limit is for these truck tires, but for truck tires common upper limit is 30 lbs. Maybe GM cut that in half to 15 lb? Be it as it may, a truck tire with 18 and 20 lb force variation should be serviceable and be capable of being properly balanced. It seems that balancing these tires properly is the main problem here. The best way is to use a wheel lug adapter (plate) that holds the wheel on the balancer the same way it is mounted on the truck. For large diameter wheels, use of traditional balancing cones may not produce the best results.

2018s will be out in a few months. Just trade it in on a new 2018 and keep your fingers crossed! No, I really do not mean it, but this problem will not be fixed as long as you people keep buying these vehicles.
-
I have stayed away from this forum for a few months and this thread grew by a hundred pages and it is still going! So it is safe to say that the problem is not fixed yet?
-
I think this w could be explained if tires are actually causing the vibration. If you happen to have a tire on your truck with a loose steel belt, it will vibrate more the hotter it gets, so cold wether actually helps reduce the vibration caused by such defects. I did have such a tire on my Mazda 626 years ago and the vibration was less in colder weather.
-
Yes, people's rear ends tend to get stiffer in cold wether, so they will not be as sensitive to vibration.
-
Yes, and evidently they continue buying these trucks, hoping against all odds that GM actually gives a crap.
-
"Service rear vision system"? Sounds to me a lot like "Replace cheap Chinese made rear view camera and associated wiring"?
-
There is plenty of salt in the air anywhere near coast all over Florida. That coupled with high humidity causes rapid rust formation all over.

They probably use "seem sealer" instead of "seam sealer". It only seems like a sealer!
