Drivers Seat Doesn't "lock"

Recommended Posts

I've a '98 1500 GMC extended cab, and the driver's seat won't lock into place..The back swings forward, and the seat slides forward...

Any ideas on how to fix, what to look for?

Thanks

On an extended cab, the back should swing forward so your passengers can get in/out.

When the seat is fully forward, there is a cable or other mechanism that releases the bottom latch so the seat will slide forward allowing even more room.

I thought this feature was only on the passenger's side, but I never did have an extended cab of that year.

It should only take a few minutes to pull the whole seat out so you can look at the bottom of it.

Good Luck!

Thanks..Further troubleshooting, the back doesn't lock either..I beleive they are related..I can get under the seat and I don't see anything amiss..

The seat slides forward and the back swings..Neither will lock...
