I've got a 01 2500hd with a gas 6.0 and 4:10s in the rear, all stock. I want to get more out of it, where should i start? Fuel milage is at 13, a little better would be a plus, but if is going to get 13mpg I want all I can get for 13. It has 67,000 on it. I hear about intakes, exhaust and chips/programers, where does a rookie start? Any help is appreciated.

WELCOME!!!!

Start with a tune. I went with wait4me and noticed a definite improvement over stock. I could not justify to myself the extra $$ the others wanted.

The after market exhaust does nothing except produce more noise (the 6.0 has a nasty drone to it) you might even lose a little low end power. It's hard to beat the factory tuned exhaust, but if you want one, omegafiler is right.

I am not sure about the C.A.I. the factory intake is a already a C.A.I. design. the only benefit might come from a different filter and a better intake tube click here. watch out for oiled filters though could be bad for M.A.F. sensor.

Do a little searching around the site. You will find a wealth of info to help you decide what is best for you and your truck.

Thanks for the advice, some say tune it others tell me exhaust and intake first. It seems there is a differance of opion on everthing. What are the advantages of tuners or sending it out, and does the "dead spot" or lack of throttle resonse come from having factory intake and exhaust? Sorry for repeat questions ther is no one in my area taht I know of to talk to. My truck gets regular maintence with syn oils, gear lube, filters ect. My factory exhaust is 3" off both manafolds to muffler then one 3.5 " pipe out, high restriction?

Thanks again
