Need To Reprogram Tcc On My 99' Silverado 4l60e

I'm sick of this surge from the TCC on to off cruising 45-60 mph. I need to change the threshold of speed to come on. I would prefer to still have it work on highway cruise (where I don't have this issue), so disabling it is not my preferred solution. I'm not sure if it is because of my V6 lacking the torque to hold those speeds with a light pedal...(% throttle being another threshold of TCC control). Not sure if this generation truck is running EPROM chips let alone anybody who has a definition file for TunerPro.

TCC on newer trucks like yours is pulse width modulated not just on & off. Running with it off will burn up the transmission because there is no cooling in 3rd & 4th gears. Since you say there is a surge there is something wrong, you either have bigger tires & a tall gear of the engine isn't running as it should.

PWM TCC is to keep the application of the converter unnoticed.

My '99 GMC V6 had/has a problem with the torque converter locking/unlocking at random times. On a hot day it can kick the trans into panic mode, with full line pressure shifts. A little research showed that a worn shuttle valve in the valve body can lead to that problem. I told this to another guy on another forum, who told his mechanic, and they fixed the valve body. He reported it worked fine.

 

As for me, I simply change the fluid in the pan every other oil change, change the filter once a year, and use tow/haul to keep the line pressure up on the freeway. It seems to keep it in check. It started doing that around 150k, and it's still running at 281k. I drive it 65 miles each way to/from work every day.
