Locking Cargo Management Sliders/accessories

Recommended Posts

I'm a little surprised at this design element, but maybe I'm missing something, so I thought I'd post.

Since the cargo management system on my 08 doesn't go all the way back to the tailgate, you can slide any of the accessories right off and take them. This really bothers me given that anyone can walk right up and take my tie-downs, etc.

Am I missing some sort of locking device?

Well, you are right, your tie down can be removed easily. On the other hand, larger accessories like a tool box cannot be removed, even with the tailgatedown. The bracket start wedging when you try to remove it. You could add some kind of locking bolt at the end of the cargo rails to ensure that they are not removed as easily.

I would assume hes talking about a bolt with a lock nut on it to make it slightly more difficult to remove. Available at you local hardware store.

i havent seen one up close so don't know if this will work ... but if it will give it a go ... in the channel .. you can drill a hole at the end .. and put in a security bolt (with odd shaped head) and a locking nut on the other side ... that will prevent anything from being slide off of it without first removing the nut / bolt ... or could even put a lock through the hole ...

This is exactly what I meant. Well, you actually don't have to drill because you can use the last hole in the cargo rail. This will ceartainly slow down a theif. I hadn't really worried about it, but now that you mention it, I think I will go by Autozone, and buy a screw/bolt with an odd shaped head and install in on my cargo rail.

I just installed a Master Pad Lock in the last hole. It works great. :D

Good idea. I'll have to try it especially if my bedcover is rolled to the front.

What's simple is usually best...I'll investigate this further!

Al-- yeah, I figured as these trucks get more prevalent, like in two or three years, it'll be an easy fix-upper for some d*****bag to take it right off and add to theirs. That kind of crap happens all the time. I watched a girl take off all the valve stem caps off a guys truck at a bar parking lot. She drove away...I stopped her and wrote her a citation for theft <$50. :D
