Installing Hid Kit

Ok,

 

Got my HID kit, but i was looking at it and it seemed a little confusing. it has a positive and negative from the cable with the bulb, but it's like 3 inches long. how the hell am i suppose to make it reach over to the battery ? Do i need to buy some extension? Also there is no relay, just the ballast, igniters, bulbs, do we need a relay to run the kit on our trucks? or can i do with out it?

 

08 NBS SIlverado. this is for the low beams H11 kit.

figured it out. yea just plugs directly into the stock harness and black tape it :crackup: , I can see the light now, and it's white, do i get closer :lol:

When I hit the highs it keeps the lows on aswell, so both highs and lows on at the same time, keep in mind im not using the mr.taillight kit, just the HID Kit, is this safe or is this how it's suppose to be?

Rmando, your highs and lows are supposed to be on at the same time. I installed a 5300K HID kit myself, and the only negative part of this was that when the stock halogen high beams were on they appeared very yellow when juxtaposed with the HID lows. I installed the Toshiba HIR high beams, and it now looks much better. There is still a difference, of course, but it's not nearly as noticeable.

Well i don't really care about the color of the HIGH's compared to the LOW's right now, i'm just making sure i didn't screw up anything, because i know that it ususally doesn't run both at the same time without some kit, but being HID kit, i didn't know if this kit does something to make both run at once, and also does running both at the same time harm the housing or wiring ( burn/melt ) . now this is only when i switch higs, other than that the lows are on by themselves.

Well, this one works pretty well so far, keep in mind i've had it for 2 days. But the ease of install was simple ( i took off grille and pulled each headlight out for ease of access ), the quality seems durable, it's not cheap, pretty solid. it also comes with 14 month warranty. they are 100 bux shipped from the group buy, which ends on the 31st of this month. Let me know if you are interested, i can get you the details.

No, having them both on at the same time doesn't hurt anything. Your stock low beams stayed on with the high beams as well; this is true of all of GMT900 Sierras and Silverados.

I also bought VVME. They are VERY VERY GOOD! I advise anyone to get a pair. I just bought some for my fog lights which were supposed to be delivered today :| They have not arrived, awesome UPS!

There's no need to pull it all off. YOu could have just as easily slid the intake off and put them there. Just use 3M tape and stick it on the beams there. Easy as pie :lol: I'm wondering if my fog lights are going to be a pain as i might have to 3M it on the inside of the bumper.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      Seems to be Missing a lot of Updates

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
