WTF were they thinking?

I need a picture of this area, the way this left the factory so I can get it fixed correctly with as little trouble as possible.

I'm afraid of going in, and their repair will be torqueing the clamp down making it impossible for me to separate these two pipes in the future.

If anyone has a picture, a parts diagram, a part number, anything to help me, I will be truely grateful!!!!!!!

PLEASE HELP!!

P.S. Truck is a 2006 Sierra, 1500, crew cab, 4x4, 6.0L, 4L70E, 4.10's, 9.5" 14 bolt rear. I think the HD's have a similar exhaust setup as well as the Sierra Denali and the Silverado SS.

there is a band strap thre stock, yours eityher broke or was frozen, thats why theres burn marks on the shield up top. they had to cut it off.

its literally a band that wraps around to itself right there with a 15mm nut on top to tighten down

Thanks for the reply!

Got a picture of silveradoss.com, I am not going to let the dealer say the repair as done is acceptable. Leaks like a mofo and if tightened will crush the pipes, if they are not crushed already. :P

Maybe i can get a GM Performance catback system as replacement. :D

Went to the dealer this morning, was told by the service manger that the clamp in question is the approved replacement type.

Told the dealer I would not be happy until it was returned to factory setup and would do whatever it takes to get it fixed.

The service manager disappeared while I talked to the service advisor, and came back and told me he found an aftermarket replacement, and he would order it.

I'll wait until I see the clamp before I decide if I'm pleased with his offer.

Yeah, don't just take his word for it.

Honestly if you have the paperwork from this dealer showing they did a repair, I'd take it to a different dealership and ask them to go back and correct the other dealer's shoddy "warranty work."

very similar to what it is stock, better actually. the stock one is only about 1" wide

very bad idea to weld it tho, if you do it will be a single pipe from the manifold to the muffler. kinda makes it hard to work on and really a pain if u plan on a catback
